A warm welcome from St John’s

Who we are

St John’s is a group of people drawn mainly from the local area. We are a community with a wide age range and from a variety of backgrounds.

We understand that crossing the threshold of a church is no small thing. We do our best to nurture a welcoming, ‘come as you are’ environment, but recognise that we don’t always get it right.

We hope to create safe space for people from all walks to uncover the ways faith connects with real life. We know the everyday isn’t always easy, so we try to be honest about our struggles, but hold onto the truth that God is good and invites us to find ‘life to the full’.

OUR VISION

We aim to help anyone and everyone ‘do life’ with Jesus so that individuals, our local community and beyond can flourish.

OUR MISSION

We believe we are called to give ourselves to loving God and the people around us, and support one another in that venture.

We understand this expresses itself in many different ways. For ease, we often refer to this purpose by talking about:

LOOKING UP
to God - to enable all to respond to God for who He is and what He has done for us.

LOOKING IN
to each other - to support one another in ways that reflect genuine and caring relationships.

LOOKING OUT
to our local community and beyond - to see beyond ourselves and respond to need;

Our wider connections

We are part of a wider Christian family. St John’s is part of the Church of England (the Anglican Church in England) but also enjoys warm links with other churches of various denominations in the West Wickham area.

A number of our church family engage with what organisations like New Wine and Spring Harvest are up to.
